Bundled services: Postgres Redis MongoDB MySQL Persistent disks Auto-SSL
What it is
Coolify is an open-source PaaS you self-host on your own VPS. Git-based deploys, Postgres / Redis / MongoDB / MySQL services, environment variables, persistent disks, automatic Let's Encrypt. Pair with Hetzner and you get Render-shape DX at €10/month. Aggressive feature velocity and a real community in 2025/26.
Best for
- Indie developers wanting Render-shape DX at VPS prices
- Teams escaping the Vercel / Netlify pricing trajectory
- Side projects that have outgrown free tiers but cannot justify PaaS fees
- Self-hosted stack requirements (data residency, no-vendor-lock)
When not to pick it
Skip Coolify if your team has zero ops capacity — the self-host part is real. Skip if you need 99.99% uptime SLAs from a vendor.
My take
Coolify is the most interesting hosting story of 2026. The combination of Hetzner + Coolify is a serious Render alternative for cost-conscious teams. Trade-off is ops capacity; not every team should run their own PaaS.
